MAIDENS TOWER ISTANBUL

I was commissioned to create the architectural lighting design and a nightly sound and light spectacle for the iconic Maidens Tower in Istanbul.

The project, finalized in the summer of 2023, incorporates marine-grade fixtures and lasers strategically placed on and around the tower, as well as on the Galata Tower located on the opposite side of Istanbul.

The captivating 8-minute show delves into the tower’s rich history, enthralling tales, and legendary sagas, which were beautifully scripted by Ayse Kulin, a famous Turkish writer.
The story is recorded in three languages and accompanied by specially composed background music. Whilst they watch the show, visitors can listen to the story in real-time through loudspeakers positioned along the shore or via a dedicated web application on their mobile devices.
