BMW @ Frankfurt Motor Show 2017

BMW Frankfurt 2017

From 2013 to 2017 I had the privilege to be responsible for the the lighting of the 12.ooo sqm exhibition of BMW at the Frankfurt Motor show.  Using the whole space of the largest exhibition hall at the Frankfurt Fair, the scope was massive. 800 rigging points, 5 km of trussing, upwards of 5000 fixtures – from large moving lights to 800 custom made pendant lights. Planning took almost a year, the setup 6 weeks.
In 2017 was also in charge of designing the kinetic system for the 7 moving LED panels.
And again, all cars and participants on stage were tracked seamlessly by a Zactrack system which controlled the lighting and made sure everything was always adequately lit on stage.

Ben Schiller was the lighting designer/operator for the daily shows, whilst Jerry Appelt was in charge of the press conference.
